On behalf of EMA, we would like to acknowledge Simcoe County, where we currently stand, is situated on the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people. The Anishnaabeg include the Odawa, Ojibwe and Bottawatomi (Bodiwadmi) nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.
EMA is dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture and committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First Nation, Metis and Inuit people.
As Newcomers, we recognize that land, in our countries of origin, and in our chosen country of Canada, is precious. We are grateful for the opportunity to stand behind the Anishnaabeg people in the respect we hold for this land we now call home.
We make a commitment to consider and implement the “calls for action” from the Truth and Reconciliation document, as they relate to EMA’s responsibilities as we develop initiatives within our community.
