The County of Simcoe is growing every day with new immigrants arriving to embark on their new lives. The Simcoe County population expanded to 533, 169 residents (Statistics Canada, 2021 census). Simcoe County is growing faster (11.2% increase since 2016) than provincial or national averages. This growth is projected to reach 667,000 by 2031.
Prior to the pandemic, immigrants arriving from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) were an important contributor to local population growth. In the past two years, outmigration from large urban areas has increased the pace of population growth locally. In Simcoe County, foreign-born individuals are increasingly represented in our classrooms, workplaces, neighborhoods, injecting money into the economy, consuming local services, and participating in community programs and events.
It is our hope, and our goal, that the County of Simcoe will be a leader in being a safe, welcoming community, that celebrates all our uniqueness that comes together to build a vibrant place to live.
